PROGRAMS
Since its inception in 1990, Marenn-Parenn has been growing
in its ability to assist children and families of Petite Place Cazeau to
meet their immediate needs for basic education, food, shelter and health
care and to develop their economic assets and capacities. To achieve its
mission, Marenn-Parenn now uses three core strategies:
- sponsorships of children and families to facilitate school attendance
and training in the development and initial capitalization of micro-enterprises
(about 55% of its organizational activity);
- support for local
community action and community development efforts (about 30% of its organizational
activity); and
- cash and in-kind assistance
to individuals and local institutions for the purposes of meeting the immediate,
fundamental needs for food, housing,
clothing and health care (about 15% of its
organizational activity).
